AMMAVASAI PADAIYAL
Can we offer padayal for our ancestors or deceased soul before or earlier than deepavali? What type of padayal must we offer?
We should not offer padayal earlier than deepavali day or earlier than deepavali eve. It means padayal must be offer on deepavalli eve or on the deepavalli day ONLY. Please be informed and please tell all your relatives and friends about this....
Your are preparing food for your guess but your guess cannot come on that day even you already prepare the food. So no point.
Because it should be done on ammavasai thithi . A day for ancestors and depatured soul.
Type of food that must be offered is VEGETARIAN ONLY!!!. All the murukku and the biscuit that you do, must be kept aside for them then only you can taste it. So on that day you must put banana leaf, put all vegetarian food, deepavali palagaram, fruits, new cloth, ghee and please do not forget place plain water. Place a nallennai vilakku infront of their photo or on the banana leaf.
Always remember when you put sambharani or sudam you must wave it anti clockwise and do not ring bell.
Once padayal has been offered to them, please make a move from that place for a moment so that you will not interrupt when they enjoying the meal. It is better to do it in main hall of your house. Ok the most important thing that you must not forget is, once the padayal prayers is done, after awhile please pull the banana leaf forward or move it abit front. This is a sign that they will take all your offering and back to their own place.
You can eat all the offering. Not a problem. Then enjoy your DEEPAVALLI!!!
p/s:- they only can eat food prepared based from cow like milk, ghee, tayiru. Once they reach pithru loka they cannot take other offering and it is rules that they must follow. But just for your satisfaction you can offer vegetarian food padayal for them.

ReplyDeleteDeepavali eve does not fall on ammavasai thithi, arent we suppose to offer padayal on ammavasai thithi only? Is it not only during ammavasai that the ancestor can come down and take the offerings? Im confused about this.
ReplyDeletedeepavaliofferings must be ade on tratodasi chathurdasi and ammavasai thithi...chathurdasi thithi comes on the eve of ammavasai...and deepavali falls on ammavasai usually. Thats why we put offering on the eve.
ReplyDeleteAncestors are already our God and we must treat them like God so we must show sudam n sambrani clockwise not anticlockwise... anticlockwise is only just for those who passed on for 1mth...and we must ring the bell for good vibration.
