Lighting Holy Lamps

You can use both ghee (clarified butter) as well as oil to light holy lamps in the temples, in poojas, and at home in your own pooja altar. If one uses ghee to light the holy lamps, it is believed that it will bestow you with good fortune and wisdom. On the other hand, if you use sesame oil (also known as gingely oil), your sins and bad karma will vanish.

Ghee
Ghee is also said to emit positive energies and sesame oil is believed to have the powers to destroy negative energies in a place or on a human’s aura where it is used to lit.

Sesame Oil
When it comes to divine purposes, never use groundnut oil to light up lamps or earthen / clay lamps. There you have it, now you know which is better for lighting holy lamps.
